This is a step by Step guide on how to use SafetyAware.
How do I Start a Monitored Shift
- Press the arrow located between your name and the phone icon
- In the shift form press the sign on button in the lower right corner (setting an end shift time is not necessary)
How do I check in?
- Tap the green check mark to reset your safety timer.
- To disable the safety timer, tap the icon left of the countdown.
Do I have to Check-In while I am driving?
- SafetyAware has a driving timer, so you are not distracted. You will have to check in when you stop driving.
How do I send an emergency request for help?
- Tap the emergency button.
- A 20-second countdown timer appears. Cancel if pressed accidentally.
- Tap 'Start Emergency' on the timer screen to send the request immediately.
How can I cancel my emergency request for help?
- Tap the red STOP button while an emergency request is active.
- Confirm cancellation by tapping YES.
- The emergency state is canceled immediately, but the emergency service will still confirm your safety.
What is hazard mode?
- In a potentially hazardous situation, click the hazard icon to enter hazard mode. Set a timeframe, and if you don't check-in, the monitoring service will contact you.
- Tap the hazard icon.
- Select the timeframe and write a comment describing your situation.
- Adjust the timeframe, restart the hazard timer, or cancel the hazard setting as needed.
How do I enter specific location info manually?
- Tap below the Manual Location label to enter specific location information for emergency responders. Example: "Behind diesel tank #5."
How do I stop Monitoring?
- Press the arrow Icon between your name and the phone icon (the same as the icon you used to sign on)
- Press the sign off button in the lower right-hand corner
Bivy Stick with the SafetyAware App
How do I Registering my Bivy?
- You must register your Bivy at least once in Cellular or Wi-Fi for you to be able to use the Bivy with your SafetyAware app.
- If you share the Bivy with other workers, you will need to re register the device to you prior to using
What is the Sequence of Starting a Session and Pairing a Bivy Stick?
- Log into the SafetyAware app.
- Click the Preference cogwheel on the SafetyAware app. c. In Preferences, select 'Connect to Bivy.'
- To connect, choose 'Connect to my Bivy.'
- Turn on the Bivy.
- You will get a message that you are connected.
- Leave the preferences and confirm the Bivy icon is displayed on the menu bar of the app.
How do I Reconnecting Bivy Stick After Disconnection?
- If you walk away from your vehicle with your phone and your Bivy disconnects, press the power button on the Bivy Stick and release. The app will confirm you have reconnected.
- Navigate to Preferences then press the connect to Bivy Icon
Can I Log into SafetyAware outside of cellular?
- When you login with bivy outside of cellular or Wi-Fi you will automatically start a shift, this is done by design to reduce the amount of data consumed while connecting
Can I Perform a Safety Check Outside Cellular Services?
- Satellite devices are not cell phones. Messages through the Bivy need to travel 800 km to an orbiting satellite and then back to earth. Factors like not having a clear view of the sky can affect the speed of message transmission.
Can I Cancel a Message to Bivy?
- If the message sending wheel does not disappear, you can tap cancel on the message. The message you originally sent will eventually go through.
Can I Bluetooth connect other Devices?
- The Bivy connection will not impact other Bluetooth devices.
What if My Phone Breaks?
- If your phone breaks or runs out of battery, hold the check mark button on the Bivy stick for 3 seconds until you see a blue flashing light on the status indicator. This will start your session from the stick. The check-in button on the stick is one-way communication only.
